Overview

CardiacBooster is a spin-off of the Radboud UMC and is located on the NovioTech Campus in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. Cardiac Booster has been working on the development of a minimally invasive cardiac support device since 2018.


The product concept has been formulated by Dr. Daniël van Dort, a physician at Radboud University Medical Center. Based on his observations in the cardiac surgery department, Dr. van Dort has developed an innovative approach to left ventricular support.

Specialist Data Privacy Attorney

We have a partnership with X (formerly Twitter), supporting the buildout of specialist product teams across both legal and non-legal functions. For this key hire, we were engaged by the Head of Commercial and Corporate to recruit a Specialist Data Privacy Attorney on an executive search mandate.

Challenge

The brief called for a senior-level privacy lawyer with:

  • Deep expertise in emerging technologies
  • U.S. data privacy and product advisory experience
  • Availability to work onsite in either Los Angeles or San Francisco

The highly specific skill set and strict location requirements significantly narrowed the candidate pool.

Solution

Our executive search team held an in-depth briefing with X’s legal leadership to define success criteria, team context, and key role requirements. As part of our partnership, we:

  • Delivered weekly progress reports detailing candidate activity and feedback
  • Conducted virtual screening interviews focused on technical fit, motivations, and remuneration expectations
  • Provided a shortlist of qualified candidates for interview, acting as the main liaison between both sides throughout a multi-stage process

We maintained close contact with both the hiring manager and candidates at each stage, ensuring alignment, engagement, and momentum.

Result

We successfully placed a Specialist Data Privacy Attorney with the required specialist experience and cultural fit. The process was completed within 2 months from initial engagement to offer acceptance.
