Our client is a major player in the aviation sector. They are seeking a Finance Operations Manager to join the team on a permanent basis. This is a key technical role with responsibility for overseeing the successful operation of all finance systems and supporting the finance department in the development and implementation of new finance systems. Additionally, the Finance Operations Manager will lead the team in transformation projects aimed to improve and simplify processes within the finance department.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Take overall responsibility for the company’s 3rd party relationship with technology suppliers
  • To recommend appropriate updates on changes to finance systems and build investment cases to support the financial outlay required
  • To provide leadership and guidance to the finance department senior management in relation to industry best practice and, where appropriate, provide strong technical support in relation to system design, development and testing, in conjunction with third party consultants
  • To lead the development, implementation and documentation of ongoing changes to systems and new functionality (in conjunction with module owners), and ensure with the support of the users that adequate testing is performed on all changes to systems to ensure their integrity is maintained, and that they reflect identified requirements
  • To manage security access to the finance systems and ensure delivery of training and training materials to users to enable them to be proficient in their use of these systems
  • To record and investigate reported problems and issues and, where appropriate, refer them, with recommended system amendments, to the software consultants to ensure their timely investigation and resolution
  • To develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) in relation to the performance of Finance Operations and in relation to the performance of the Finance Operations team across its various work streams
  • To develop and maintain positive working relationships with peers within the technology department, software suppliers and other internal and external suppliers and customers
  • To ensure the delivery of essential day-to-day finance operations administration requirements such as running schedules, chart of account updates, approval hierarchy, maintenance and updating of master files etc. are performed within agreed timeframes
  • Ensuring best in class and effective vendor management of third parties to ensure timely and accurate invoice processing
  • Management of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with all service providers to ensure delivery to agreed service levels


  • Qualified accountant ACA, ACCA or CIMA
  • Five years PQE (gained in a large industry environment
  • Previous experience in implementing and supporting ERP and EPM systems e.g. SAP/Oracle/IBM planning Analytics/ Anaplan
  • Change management experience in relation to the implementation of financial systems
  • Experience in managing a team of finance and systems professionals
  • Working knowledge of SQL and Cognos applications
