The Opportunity

My client is an investor, developer and asset manager in the real-estate sector. They own and manage a diversified and impressive portfolio of real-estate assets across Europe. This is a newly created vacancy with an Infrastructure Investment firm based in London.  As the business continues to grow its' European assets, my client is seeking a Finance Director to hold an overarching role on their European assets. This role requires a senior finance executive who can lead the finance team through growth by training and development, change management, automation and transformation.

The Challenge

  • Engaging with Senior Management to ensure good financial practice and control across each of the company’s investment platforms
  • Oversee the finance team who are responsible for:
    • Accounts preparation and management of year-end audit for all group entities
    • Cashflow management and financial modelling
    • Tax compliance and administration
    • Management of accounting processes
  • Company secretarial responsibilities
  • Treasury management
  • Business Partnering and strategic decision making
  • Supervision of finance personnel directly engaged within specific investment platforms
  • Ensuring preparation of timely and accurate financial reporting materials for internal and external stakeholders, including investors, JV partners and lenders.
  • Ongoing enhancement of company’s systems and operational procedures to ensure “best-in-class” financial management of each platform
  • Management of third-party service providers including audit, tax, co-sec, legal and corporate administration as part of the day-to-day management of the business
  • Engaging with relevant staff members across the relevant investment platforms with regard to debt management procedures including bank reporting, debt compliance and loan drawdown processes
  • Engaging with insurance advisors regarding various insurance requirements.

The Expertise

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a chartered accountant with at least 12 years’ financial and operational control experience within a PLC
  • Experience within an institutional investor
  • Show proven commercial acumen through their career as this role will rely on the successful individual to lead multiple commercial responsibilities
  • Have prior experience working with senior management in the financial and operational management of a real estate, energy or infrastructure investment firm
  • Have a firm understanding of real estate investment and funding structures, including debt and equity funding, with experience working with institutional investors a distinct advantage
  • Have excellent team leadership and communication skills
  • Have an ability to work on own initiative and handle priorities and deadlines
