In a profession that demands incredibly high technical ability and extreme attention to detail as well as commercial acumen and focus, it is rare that lawyers get the opportunity to publicly demonstrate their creative side.
On Tuesday, 5th September in CMS Law Firm’s beautiful new offices on Cannon Place, London, that is exactly what a group of lawyers got to do.
Organised by Colin Carroll of the Lawyers’ Business Development Club, the 2nd annual photography competition ran for 5 months before the winners were announced on Tuesday evening.
Colin is the founding member of the Lawyers’ Business Development Club, an international organisation for lawyers interested in business development. A lawyer himself, Colin decided to create a club where he would host ‘fire-side’ talks with prominent legal minds and other events in London, Dublin, Paris, Dubai, New York, Boston and San Francisco providing opportunities for lawyers to network.
The photography competition’s theme was ‘travel’ and the 150+ photos submitted were stunning. We were delighted to get involved in this excellent event. You can see all photos here.
Approximately 30 lawyers came along to the prize giving drinks reception in CMS. The atmosphere was warm, friendly and social as those attended mingled and discussed their photography skills as each photo was projected on a large screen.
Then it was on to the main event – we announced the winner of the 2nd Annual LBDC Photography Competition. The head of our legal desk, Megan Shannon, presented the top prize, a 2 night stay in a luxury hotel in the Algarve, to Marsha Williamson, Corporate Associate at Herbert Smith Freehills – M&A.
Marsha took the picture below in the Himalayas last year at the top of the Cho La Pass. The judging photographer – Laurence J McMahon praised it for its beautiful detail and magnificence.
It was great to be part of such a creative and different event.
Thanks so much to Colin Carroll, CMS Law Firm and all the participants who submitted such beautiful photos.
We are already looking forward to next year’s competition!
